Meet Anjali

My name is Anjali Moir and welcome to Just 3 Breaths. As a fully qualified teacher, I have always sought to develop and extend my pedagogy and this has resulted in becoming fully qualified in teaching both Mindfulness and Forest School curricula.

I have two incredible children and a three year old Australian Labradoodle dog called Bailey and we enjoy long walks together. In my spare time I enjoy gardening, yoga and baking.

Primary School Teacher

I have been teaching in schools full time for 17 years, with my main focus centered on EYFS and KS1. I had a break after the first 6 years teaching as I went travelling for a year in Australia and then took time to raise my two boys. During this time, I was a supply and maternity cover teacher in numerous schools gaining a wealth of experience. I have been teaching full time for the last eleven years for the majority of the time in Year 2.

Forest School

After being inspired by our Deputy Head at School, I completed the training to be a Forest School Leader in 2017.

“There is no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothing”

I led weekly Forest School sessions with Year 2 children between 2017 and 2023 and our sessions ran in all weathers except high winds. We ventured into the woods dressed appropriately for the weather and embark on ‘forest play’ through child centered learning. The children are challenged to take risks, use tools, engage in creative and educational activities all the while, developing their confidence, independence and problem solving skills.

Mindfulness

When I was training to be a Forest School Leader and during my own journey with mental health, I discovered meditation and mindfulness. Through the book, ‘Mindfulness – A Practical Guide to Finding Peace in a Frantic World’ by Mark Williams and Danny Penman, I began learning the power of meditation and discovered personal benefits to daily practice. Over the years, I researched how to bring mindfulness into the classroom and that’s when I began training with Mindfulness in Schools Project. I have completed their ‘Paws b’ (7-11 year olds) and ‘dots’ (3-7 year olds) courses which enabled me to teach these mindfulness curricula to numerous children since I began on this journey. The benefits to the children are visible after a few sessions as they develop an understanding of how they can use strategies for dealing with their emotions in their everyday lives.
